8th Grade Football

The 8th grade C team defeated Kingwood Middle 14 -6. Joshua Wilson recovered a fumble and dashed into the endzone for the first score. Jalon Ward then ran the ball in the endzone for the extra point. The next score came on a 60 yard interception from Jalon Ward. The extra point was a pass from Jalon Ward to Billy Stidham. The c team played great defense. The outstanding defensive players were Andrew Sanchez and Corey Robbins. The outstanding offensive players were Jalon Ward, Billy Stidham, Kyle Speech,  Drake Voiron, Aaron Stone, and Joshua Wilson. The c team's next game will be Sept. 29th Vs. Riverwood Middle School at Kingwood High School.

 

The 8th grade A team defeated Kingwood Middle 13 - 6. Christian Egans made the first TD on a 60 yard run. The next score also came on a 6 yard run  by Christian Egans. Cody Cormier kick the extra point. On defense Tristan Egans made a game saving 1 handed interception to secure the win. Outstanding players on offense were Teague Schexnayder, Joshua Blackburn, Cullen Lee, Jacob McGill, Anoine Frank, and Raelon Singleton. Outstanding defensive players were Chase Nix, Dez Roberts, Kyle Leal, Juan Morales, and Tristan Egans. The 8th grade plays Dayton next week at Dayton. Good Job 8th grade team we are sailing our way to success.

The 8th grade "B" Team lost to Kingwood Park in a close hard fought game 6-0.  The cougar defense played hard all night and the offense showed signs of improvement.  Justin Vela, Rasheed Rubin, and Martin Mendez played well on the "B" Team defense, and Julio Cordero and Drake Rupple played hard on the offense.

 

7th Grade Football

The Crosby Cougars traveled to Atascocita last night and the teams didn't fare too well. 
The Cougar Team started things off with a rough performance and lost 42-0.  Dorian Wilson tried to get things going on offense and Esequiel Pena was making good tackles on defense. 
The B team played a hard fought game but also came up on the short end.  Kevin Blanco led a spirited defensive effort along with Charlie Harber and Aaron Lee.  The offense just simply couldn't get too much going as Chris Guidry and Xavier Fogle tried to march down the field with passes. 
The A team played a tough game and had the lead only to watch it slip away. Playing against an undefeated Atascocita team, the Coogs took an 8-6 lead on a SPECTACULAR catch by Kenton harbour for a 70 yard touchdown.  Vernon Allen, Austin Hearn and Aaron Brown, Josh Opiela also played hard on the offensive side.  Defensively the Eagles proved too tough but Jordan Williams, Albert Stewart, James Hughey, and Hendrix Weishampel provided some hard hits of the game.  The Coogs look to get back on the winning track next week vs. Creekwood.
 
The 7th grade football teams played against the Sterling Panthers and fared well. 
 
The C team started things off with a defensive struggle in the muddy conditions and ended up tying 0-0.  The offense was led by Dorian Wilson and Joseph Lemelle who got the COugars close several times to scoring, but they could never cash in for a touchdown.  The defense was led by Cade Odom, Nick Moore, Julio Quintana as Sterling never came close to scoring.
 
The B Team played a hard game but had trouble holding onto the ball on the wet surface.  Chris Guidry and Daniel Schreiber led the offensive attack but the Coogs fell to Sterling.  Darrius Johnson and Quest Brown ran the ball well.  Defensively the Coogs were led by Luke taylor, Kutter Soza and Charlie Harber.  Even though they were on the short end, the B team keeps improving every week.
 
The A team ended the night with a hard fought 12-12 game against a very fast, talented Sterling team.  The score was tied 0-0 at half and Sterling scored the first touchdown, but the Coogs responded and came back to take a 12-6 lead before Sterling tied the game late.  Vernon Allen rushed for a 21 yard touchdown and threw another touchdown pass to Kenton Harbour from 18 yards out.  Austin Hearne also had 4 catches on the night at receiver.  The defense was great led by Jordan Williams and Hendrix Weishampel, who made several tackles on the night.  Xavier Leno and eddie Rivas played tough inside as well as Matt Gregory.  The A team keeps improving and these young men are starting to come together

The 7th Grade B team played a close game against the Dayton Broncos but came up short by a score of 13-6.  James Hughey had a great game defensively as well as running the ball for the Cougars.  Chris Gaffney, Rene Hernenadez, and Larry McFarland played well defensively.  Chris Guidry, Hughey and Daniel Schreiber led the offense.  The kids are working hard and continue to improve each week.
 
The 7th grade A team had another tough game vs. Dayton.  Vernon Allen and Kenton Barbour led the offense behind the blocking of Logan Cleveland, Matt Lalor and Devan Anderson.  Jonathon Riffle also caught 2 passes.  The defense had great plays from Matthew Gregory, Victor Villafuerte, and Nate Scott.

 

 

The 7th grade Cougars started off their football seasons with 3 teams playing against Kingwood Park.  The C ougar team netted a 6-6 with Briant Carter, Darius Johnson leading the offense and Jay Ballard scoring the only Cougar touchdown on a fumble recovery and run of 38 yards.  The B team played in an exhausting chess match, matching Kingwood Park step for step before ending in a 0-0 draw.  Chris Guidry and Quest Brown paced the Offense while LaKeith Bryant and Xavier Leno were big contributors in keeping Kingwood scoreless.  The A team ran into a very talented team and lost thier first game of the young season.  Kenton Harbour scored the lone touchdown on a hard fought 26 yard run and Vernon Allen and Jonathon Durran played well offensively.  Guy Chumley and Logan Cleveland played well on defense as the Coogs look to get better and rebound next week vs. Dayton.
